Who We Are

Hello!

Hello! We’re Richard and Beth — a newly retired couple who traded the everyday for the open road. We packed up our two Australian Labradoodles, Simon and Prudence, climbed into our camper, and set off to see what’s out there on the roads less traveled.

Two creatives with thirty years of collaboration behind them — from furniture design and fine art to salon ownership and the building of Treehouse Art Farm — we’ve always worked best together. Practical and poetic, grounded and always a little curious about what’s around the next bend.

We started this journey knowing we had a lot to learn about RVing. We still do. But we’re figuring it out — and sharing everything along the way: the campgrounds we love (and the ones we’d skip), the trails that welcome dogs, the hidden spots that don’t show up in the guidebooks, and the people who make a place worth remembering.

If you travel with dogs, love good food, appreciate a little beauty in unexpected places, or just feel the pull of somewhere new — you’re in the right place. Come along for the ride on Figment Road.

Why Figment?

A figment is something imagined — as in, a figment of the imagination. It speaks to creativity, dreaming, and the stories we tell ourselves about what’s possible.

That felt right.

There’s also something quietly poetic about the fig itself — ancient, symbolic, associated with abundance and sweetness and a kind of lush mystery. The things we’re out here looking for.

And then there’s the sound of the word. Figment has an old-world charm — literary, a little elusive, the kind of name you might find painted in elegant script on the side of a traveling artist’s wagon. Which, honestly, is not far from what this is.

People ask, “Why Figment?” — and that question opens a door. To the story of how we got here, what we’re chasing, and what we hope to share. That’s the whole point, really.
