Soup Anyone? My Favorite Travel Day Meal

So, this one time, I brought a pot of homemade Tomato Soup to a boil, lovingly wrapped it in the Wonderbag and carefully perched it atop a pile of stuff I had heaped up for transport in the shower of the RV bathroom. OK, it was a dumb idea and I should have known better, All I can say is that I had been rushing around and packing for days and there was one issue after another with the RV and we were down to the 11th hour in packing. I was rushed and we don’t always make the best decisions when we are tired and feel like we are running out of time.

Six hours later, we pulled into Reed Bingham State Park in Adel, Georgia. The sky was black and the heavens were about to break, as we rushed to level up and settle into our site. While Richard tackled the tasks of hooking up the electric and sewer, I ventured to the bathroom to get the Wonderbag and check the warmth of the soup and as soon as I opened the door, I knew I made a bad decision when I thought our dinner would ride ok on top of the pile in the shower. The room smelled deliciously of Tomato Soup, the Wonderbag was upside down on the floor beside the toilet and the cute little prayer rug was sopping wet. With a sign, I realized that I had the task of washing and cleaning not only the Wonderbag but also the wool rug and that dinner had devolved to Peanut Butter and Jelly. The heavens opened up, the wind howled and the rain started pouring down from the sky.

It was a long, gloomy night in the storm, the strong scent of tomato soup as the incense for drifting off to sleep, tomorrow was a new day. The good news is the Wonderbag washed up perfectly in the washing machine. I even dared to put it in the dryer, and it was just perfect coming out! Good as new! It was still raining cats and dogs, so I decided to take the little wool prayer rug outside and lay it over the fence, and when it finally quit raining the next day, it, too was good as new.

The moral of the story is - Put the Wonderbag on a solid surface that is within view and make sure you have the makings for Peanut Butter and Jelly incase anything goes wrong. Otherwise, soup in the Wonderbag is my go-to for travel day meals.
